Not all slipped disc issues need surgery

Dr Kiran K Reddy Badam, Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Secunderabad, says, "90% of back problems can be treated with non-surgical treatments such as medicines, physiotherapy, rest, and activity modifications."
Spine surgery may be recommended if non-surgical treatment fails to relieve symptoms. Surgery is a better option if the nerves are affected and the patient is not able to walk properly, because of herniated disc, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis or spinal stenosis say doctors.
