Coronavirus Update Do's and Dont's

In China, Coronavirus killed more than 80 people and infected more than 2,500 people. Here are the dos and don't do it to keep the disease at a bay.

The novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain of the large coronavirus family (CoV) that causes disease ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases like Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). The (nCoV) was not previously identified in humans and maybe transmitted (zoonotic) between animals and humans.

The virus has killed over 80 people in China and affected more than 2,500. Mint explains the dos and don'ts for keeping the disease at bay.

Coronavirus update do's and don'ts

Do's

♦ Observe good personal hygiene

♦ Practice daily handwashing with soap

♦ Follow respiratory etiquette

♦ cover your mouth while coughing or sneezing

♦ Wear a mask if you have breathing problems like cough or running nose

♦ Seek medical attention promptly

If you feel sick on a flight while traveling back to India:

♦ Inform the airline crew about illness

♦ Seek a mask

♦ Avoid close contact with family members or fellow travelers

♦ Follow the airline crew's directions while disembarking

If you feel sick on a flight or at the time of disembarkation:

♦ Report to airport health authorities/immigration

♦ Follow the direction of the airport health officer

When you feel ill within a month of returning from China:

♦ Report illness to the nearest health facility and also inform the treating doctor regarding your travel history

Don'ts

♦ Don't plan travels if sick

♦ Avoid traveling to China if not essential

♦ Avoid close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness, such as cough, running nose etc.

♦ Avoid contact with live animals and consumption of raw/under-cooked meats.

♦ Avoid going to farms, slaughter homes or live animal markets.
