How to Celebrate Shab-e-Qadr at Home
Today evening 27th of the month Ramadan will begin. Tonight is called Shab-e-Qadr, the Night of Decree. In Islam, this night has great significance. This was the night when the Holy Quran landed on the sky. Shab-e-Qadr is searched in the five pious nights of the third Ashera (last ten days and nights) of Ramadan. There is a robust scholarly opinion that it is mostly on 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night of the Ramadan. Muslims take the chance to double up their prayers during the last ten days of the holy month.
The first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad on this divine night. Angels descend in this night. Prating on this night is better than praying a thousand months. When one does good deeds on this night, its equivalent to the good deeds, one does for almost 1000 months or 83 years. Don't miss it!
I remember my grandmother describing the holy night as the most pleasant one; she said it would be neither hot nor cold. She made us believe that trees would also bow to the ground as if they are praying during the pious night.
This time due to the corona lockdown, the prayers in mosques are not being done in groups. The Quran's Tilawat, Taraweeh and Iftar are also missing from the mosques. But this does not mean that the feast of this night can be achieved only in mosques. This night can also be searched by staying awake all night at home during the lockdown. Nafil Namaz, Tilawat and special prayers can be performed at home. On this night, there is an opportunity for boundless blessings for the seeker.

"Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace is until the emergence of dawn."
