Monsoon tonics to boost your immunity
We are still in the midst of a global pandemic and the arrival of rains has left many feeling anxious. My phone is ringing endlessly with concerned clients looking for the 'miracle' cure. So ladies, forget your worries as I am going to share with you my special immunity boosting drinks. Sip on these to keep your respiratory tract clean and overcome the monsoon blues.
Kadha
This ancient Ayurvedic drink is very easy to make, boil water and temper with cows ghee and tulsi, haldi, cinnamon, black pepper - which have anti-viral compounds that are necessary to fight infections. Also add jeera and ajwain to look after your digestive health. The star of the show is A2 Organic cow's ghee which increases the potency of the spices.
Kahwa
This soothing drink is a mixture of flavourful spices warming the respiratory tract.
Rasam
This is a delicious and well-balanced concoction of therapeutic herbs and spices is great for the bronchial tract and digestive health. It's ingredient garlic contains Sulphur a natural anti-biotic.
Masala chai
Many people don't realise but masala chai has disease fighting immunity boosters, phlegm preventing powers, which leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalised. So sip on India's beloved health tonic, replace sugar with stevia.
Kadha
INGREDIENTS:
♥ 250 ml water
♥ 2 tsp Organic A2 Cows Ghee
♥ ¼ tsp haldi
♥ ¼ inch cinnamon stick or 1 grams cinnamon powder
♥ ¼ tsp black pepper powder 3-4 tulsi leaves
♥ ¼ tsp jeera
♥ ¼ tsp ajwain
METHOD:
♥ Boil water in a vessel.
♥ Temper with ghee and all the spices mentioned above.
♥ Strain.
♥ Garnish with tulsi leave and serve hot.
Kahwa
INGREDIENTS:
♥ 1 tsp Kashmiri Green Tea
♥ 1 stick cinnamon
♥ 3 cardamoms
♥ Saffron 2 to 3 strands 3 clove
♥ 4 cups of water
♥ 8 - 10 flakes of peeled chopped almonds
♥ ½ tsp organic honey (optional)
METHOD:
♥ Boil all ingredients except almonds in water till it comes to half its consistency.
♥ Strain
♥ Garnish with almonds.
♥ Serve hot.
Masala Chai
INGREDIENTS:
♥ 1 cup water
♥ 1 tbsp. grated fresh ginger
♥ 1 Cinnamon stick
♥ 2 whole peppercorns
♥ 4-5 cardamom pods
♥ ¼ cup milk
♥ 5 to 6 fresh lemon grass leaves
♥Stevia (optional)
METHOD:
♥ In a sauce pan, combine water and herbs. Cover and simmer on low heat for eight to ten minutes.
♥ Add the milk, and return to simmering point.
♥ Strain into a cup and sweeten with stevia.
