#RiceBucketChallenge held at DPS NADERGUL

Thanksgiving is celebrated world over with fervor and euphoria. It conveys the universal feeling of being thankful to Lord Almighty for his continuous grace. India is a multi-lingual, multi-cultural and a secular country; also popular for its spirituality, God loving and God fearing people. It is known for its 'Unity in Diversity'.

To mark the Thanksgiving Day the students of Delhi Public School Nadergul participated in the #RiceBucketChallenge in association with RobinHood Army & collected 1200 Kgs of Rice (Each child bringing 1kg of Rice).The collected Rice & other essentials will be sent to a Tribal Hamlet in Kothagudem near Bhadrachalam Forest and also will be sent to an NGO – CHEYUTHA working for people affected by HIV/AIDS in association with Robinhood Army.

Thanksgiving Day celebrations commenced with the welcoming of the guests with saplings followed by a formal welcome note, majestic theme songs performed by the middle school students.The students accomplished the mottoof 'Service before Self' by contributing books for setting up of a library within two government schools.The 'Joy of giving' week involved the whole school collecting raw food items, clothes, stationery, toys andtaking it across for donating it to the needy and charitable organisation. Every element of the school becomes an active participant for such noble cause.

The event was graced by the presence of Ms. ManjulathaKalanidhi,Journalist andinitiator of Rice Bucket Challenge, Mr. Chakravarthy, Axis Bank Manager and Mr. Ram, a representative from The Robin Hood Army, a NON PROFIT organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and distributes it among the less fortunate.

Ms. Manjulatamotivated and complimented the school and the students for such initiatives. Mr. Chakravarthyalso exhorted them to uphold the values and aim to be creative in all aspects. Mr. Ram urged the students to value food and shares it with the needy.The Principal, Mrs. Padma JyotiTuraga thanked Mr. Malka Komariah Chairman for his supportalso appreciated and congratulated all the participants.

We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness, without these qualities life will be violent and all will be lost. We the people have the power to make this place a beautiful place to live in, to make it a paradise, let us all use the power and resources wisely and sustainably and be thankful to the almighty for everything.
