The Lunar Eclipse will coincide with Guru Purnima on July 16, 2019

Update: 2019-07-15 13:46 IST

New Delhi,July 14: No matter what you do on July 16, 2019--you owe it to yourself to look at the darkened sky. A rare lunar eclipse will all fall on the same day with Guru Purnima 2019.

Since this year's lunar eclipse coincides with Guru Purnima, it will be a special spectacle as this is the century's greatest eclipse. The lunar eclipse will bite into the July Full Moon's glowing face, wrapping it from sight across the Earth's night.

The eclipse is going to be partial, meaning that only a portion of the Moon is going to disappear. The Moon should be about half-covered at maximum eclipse by the Earth's umbral shadow.

Many parts of the world will experience partial Lunar Eclipse, including most regions of Asia and Europe, Africa, Australia, and South America. Lunar Eclipse will also be visible in India in addition to this.

All North America, however, will miss the coming eclipse. This is going to be the last lunar threshold eclipse until May 2021. What is a Chandra Grahan or Lunar Eclipse? Lunar Eclipse is something that happens between the Sun and the Moon when the Earth comes.

This can only happen if the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned precisely or very closely. Ironically, on the day of the lunar eclipse, Hindus refrain from performing any puja as no auspicious practice is performed during the eclipse.

But if you planned to perform Guru Purnima Puja before 4 pm, you can do it very well. Guru Purnima's Auspicious Time begins at 1:30 am and ends at 4:00 pm on July 18, 2019.
