On May 7, 2021, during the peak of the second wave of Covid, 4,14,188 new cases and 3679 deaths were reported, and only 3% people were fully vaccinated. On January 21, 2022, 3,47,254 new cases and 435 deaths were reported; 75% are fully vaccinated now. Ministry of Health

The government said that 400 districts have been reporting over 10% weekly Covid positivity, and 141 districts logged 5-10% positivity in week ending January 26.

At a health ministry briefing on Thursday, Lav Agarwal, joint secretary, ministry of health, said: 16 states/UTs has vaccination coverage of those aged 15-18, which is more than the national average of vaccination.
