Cheers to the tipplers as all the shops serving liquor including restaurants, pubs, hotels will remain open til 12 am on December 31. Besides permitting the liquor shops to open until 12 am, the Telangana government also accorded permission to hold the events till 1 am. Accordingly, the orders have been passed by the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar. Also, the excise department has provided temporary license to those who applied online for the conduct of events. However, the excise is going to charge Rs 50,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh for conducting the events based on the number of people attending the event.Read More
Andhra Pradesh reported 141 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the total tally to 20,76,697 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, two new deaths registered in the last twenty four hours with one in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari taking total toll to 14,492. On the other hand, as many as 165 new patients were cured in the last twenty four hours taking the total recoveries to 20,61,122 and there are currently 1073 active cases.Read More
Andhra Pradesh State Municipal and Urban Development Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said the BJP was holding a public meeting in Vijayawada to showcase its presence in the state. He said the BJP was in power in the country but there was no such party in the AP. Minister Botsa spoke to the media in Vijayawada and said that the BJP was holding a meeting today with the intention to state that the party is in Andhra Pradesh.Read more
The customs officials on Tuesday arrested two passengers arrived from Dubai at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad. The officials seized 412 grams of gold from the two passengers and arrested them. The worth of the seized gold is estimated to be of Rs 20.49 lakh. The passengers are being questioned by the officials.Read more
With the basti dawakhanas getting immense response from the people in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, the government has decided to set up 288 new basti dawakhanas in municipalities across the state. The decision was taken during a meeting on extension of health care services to all the towns and cities across Telangana. Ministers KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao attended the meeting held at Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana.Read More
A fatal road accident took place in Vizianagaram district where an Army employee was killed in the crash leaving family members in a tragedy. The incident took place at around midnight on Monday near Gotlam in Bondapalli mandal while going on National Highway 26. An Army employee came home on leave for family only six days ago and likely to return to the Army in a few days. However, in the meanwhile an unexpected tragedy ended his life. According to police, Trinathrao, 30, of Gandhinagar colony in the Nellimarla mandal centre of the district, has been serving as an Army employee in Jammu and Kashmir for some years. In 2018, he married to his sister's daughter Keerthi.
The centre has agreed to the demand of Telangana government to purchase paddy and announced that it would procure six lakh metric tonnes of paddy cultivated in the monsoon season this year. The Ministry of food and public distribution told the Telangana the centre had procured 40 lakhs metric tonnes of paddy earlier and it now decided to purchase another six metric tonnes of paddy from Telangana, which totals 46 metric tonnes of paddy of Kharif season. With the decision of the centre, the Telangana government will procure 68.65 lakh tonnes of paddy from the farmers. It is known that a delegation of ministers from TRS party left for Delhi on December 18 and met Piyush Goyal. The TRS ministers asked for a written assurance from the centre over the paddy purchase. Piyush Goyal who asked the ministers for two days to give them clarity on the Kharif paddy procurement returned to state on Friday with no written assurance
Tension grips at TDP MLA and Tollywood hero Nandamuri Balakrishna's house in Hindupur in Anantapur district after a dispute has started between the YSRCP and the TDP over the dumping yard. The YSRCP activists reacted to a post by a TDP leader on social media and tried to siege Balakrishna's house. Upon receiving the information the police intercepted the YSRCP ranks. Meanwhile, the TDP cadre was incensed over sieging the MLA's house for questioning on the development. On the other hand, YSRCP cadre has said that they have come to Balakrishna's house accepting the challenge posed by TDP over the development and alleged that TDP is provoking the ruling party with false social media posts. The TDP activists also reached there to compete with the YSRCP cadre, which led to the clash between YSRCP and TDP. The police arrested both the groups before the situation escalated. However, the situation had come to control.
Notices were issued to the actor Sai Dharam Tej in the bike accident case that took place on Durgam Cheruvu in Hyderabad in September and a case under the section 912 of CRPC was registered, said Cyberabad commissioner of police Stephen Ravindra while disclosing the crime report of Cyberabad on Monday. The CP said that the actor was asked to submit bike license, RC, insurance and pollution documents. "So far, we haven't received any response from the actor and a charge-sheet will be filed if there is no reaction from the actor," Stephen Ravindra said.Read more
The Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a key decision on the issue of movie tickets prices in Andhra Pradesh and appointed a new committee to look into ticket prices. The orders have been issued to this effect. The committee will be chaired by the Home Secretary along with Chief Secretaries of Revenue, Finance and Municipality departments, the Commissioner of Information and the Secretary of Justice will also present. The committee will examine the ticket prices and submit a report to the government.Read more
