Nithiin's Rang De Movie Review & Rating{2.5/5}

Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh have teamed up for the first time for the film Rang De. The promos and songs looked good and increased the expectations of the movie. The Venky Atluri's directorial venture has finally hit the screens today. We bring you the review of it.

Story:

Arjun (Nithiin) and Anupama (Keerthy Suresh) are neighbors but they don't get along with each other since childhood. Anu always scores brownie points in front of Arjun's father by scoring better than him in all the exams. Arjun, who is bad at academics, somehow manage to clear his engineering and also cracks GMAT. One fine day, he had to marry Anu all of a sudden due to an incident. After getting married, the couple moves to Dubai for their higher studies. The reason behind their marriage and their emotional roller-coaster ride after the wedding form the major crux of this film.

Performances:

We have seen Nithiin playing these types of roles in the past. He can do these roles so well and he had completely justified the character in this film as well. Seeing Keerthy after a long time is refreshing and also this role suited her well. The Mahanati actress performed especially well in the emotional scenes. Brahmaji and Vennela Kishore will entertain you for sure. Naresh, Rohini, Suhas, and Abhinav Gomatam have done their best.

Technical Aspects:

Director Venky Atluri is known for making emotional romantic dramas. Rang De is more entertaining than his previous films. The first half is filled with good comedy scenes. The second half is filled with emotional scenes. But the problem is Rang De is too formulaic and will not appeal to the modern viewers who crave the new wave of cinema. The director chose a simplistic way of narrating the story which makes it a routine watch. A different approach would have made the film better. PC Sreeram's cinematography is the major highlight of the film. Every frame looks beautiful on the big screen. The songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad were okay and the background music is decent. The production values are excellent. The editing is neat with a crisp runtime.

Verdict:

Rang De is old wine in an old bottle. There is nothing new in the film and its narration. What manages to keep us engaged is the writing of comedy scenes. Rest everything is something you have seen in the past. If you like watching template-based Telugu rom-coms, Rang De is a perfect watch this weekend. Or else, you can skip it as it has nothing new to offer.
