Ram Gopal Varma's Power Star Movie Review

Story:

Prawan Kalyan is a film star turned politician who faces a misery in the recent election. His party fails completely to win the votes of people. Prawan who contests in two constituencies tastes failure. What did Prawan Kalyan do then? What is his state of mind after the failure? Who did he meet after the failure? What did he decide to do? Forms the story of the film.

Performances:

Ram Gopal Varma is always perfect when it comes to casting. Likewise, he brought some actors who look like real-life people, on whom he planned this satire. There is nothing great to mention about how people performed. We can see look-alikes of Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, Bandla Ganesh. Kathi Mahesh and RGV too acted in the film that lasts for 37 minutes.

Technical Aspects:

The quality of the film is very poor. Powerstar is a short film made on a very less budget and poor technical values. The entire shoot took place at a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city. The song that already released is included in the movie. Gaddi Tintava is the song and it hardly makes an impression and so is the background score. The camera work too fails to many any impression. There isn't anything new in the film, except for lighting in some scenes. The production values are poor.

Verdict:

Powerstar is not worth the hype. At the same time, it does not have anything overboard to make fun of Pawan Kalyan. Whatever RGV showcased brings laughs here and there. It is a plain boring short film with five scenes. The hurriedness in the making is very much evident in the short film. Basically, Ram Gopal Varma tried to give his advice to Pawan Kalyan through the short film like how he usually does it using Twitter. Just like his tweets, he threw some advice to Pawan Kalyan in the short film, in the last segment of the short film. RGV reveals his admiration for Pawan Kalyan, saying that he is the biggest fan of the actor. RGV tells that his constructive criticism is only to save him from all those around him who praises him unnecessarily. Whatever it may be, RGV is successful in creating hype and drawing crowds to his short film. With 177 rupees as a ticket to this short film, he is surely going to get his money back in a single day. The film neither insults hero Pawan Kalyan nor tries to make fun of him. At the same time, the satire in the movie also hardly impresses the audiences. On the whole, it is a harmless short film and at the same time, not worth our time.
