Duel between bat and ball
India's stunning victory over South Africa couldn't have been a better start to its World Cup campaign. The victory was powered by superlative performances from India's bowling department and a gritty knock by opener Rohit Sharma. If the first week is anything to go by, this tournament is likely to be anything but a run fest.
Bowlers, in fact, have had a better time than batsmen so far. While the quicks, as expected, have got the bigger pie of the spoils, the spinners aren't too far behind. It'll be interesting to follow the performance of the spinners in this World Cup. Already the warm-up games and the initial encounters have given a glimpse of what the tweakers are capable of once they get an opportunity to attack the opposition. We will not be surprised if a spinner might actually end up being the leading wicket-taker.
