Let's wage a war to protect nature

Today is world environment day. Keeping aside our armchair advices we all have to sit erect and seriously think about what best one can do to preserve nature.

The UN cautioned in its landmark report on the planets in Nairobi that a quarter of all premature deaths and diseases worldwide are due to manmade pollution and environmental damage.

Smog inducting emissions, chemical polluting drinking water, indiscriminate use of plastic and polythene and the accelerating destruction of the ecosystem crucial to the livelihoods of billions of people are driving a worldwide epidemic that hampers the global environment as well as economy.

Added to this the Global Environment Outlook-a report six years in making compiled by 250 environmental scientists from 70 nations depicts a growing chasm between rich and poor countries as rampant over consumption , pollution, food waste in the developed world leads to hunger, poverty and diseases.

As greenhouse gas emissions rise amid a preponderance of droughts ,floods and super storms ,there is political consensus that climate change poses a great threat and risk to the living beings.

Let us take pledge on this day that we all must wage a war to protect the nature in whatever way possible to the individual and strive hard to maintain ecological balance or else we all will perish in the fury of mother nature.
