Swimming coach's shameful act

This is with reference to the news report 'Swimming coach sent to 6-day police remand' (THI, September 8). It is disgusting enough that a national junior gold medallist has been molested by her own guru for six months.

The point is that if a celebrity undergoes this kind of harassment, how can a girl "who looks forward to embark on her career in sports" get safety from such predatory coaches and selectors.

Now, swifter and stringent action against offenders is obviously indispensable to tackle this heinous incident. Rather, it is high time the coaches first cultivate due moral and righteousness along with competence.

New traffic fines unaffordable

The Central government recently amended traffic rules and decided to impose heavy fines on traffic violations.

It is however a commendable step as 3,900 challans were issued on the very first day of its implementation in Haryana alone for traffic violations, but it is unlikely to last long as fines for violations are much more than the general public can afford.

The new challans may help traffic personnel mint money and also it might be misused by ruthless cops. The new rule can be implanted successfully only if the violators can afford to pay.

Otherwise they will simply abandon the vehicles and walk away without remitting the fine amounts.

ISRO scientists did an exemplary job

It refers to report of the ISRO chiefs weeping unconsolably after the space agency lost communication with Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-2.

The scientist getting too emotional has sparked a debate about ISRO scientists letting themselves down. However, it remains a fact that despite the last-minute glitch, ISRO scientists could achieve 95 percent success in their moon mission and could reach so close to the final destination.

Kudos to the ISRO scientists and everyone involved in this great effort. I am sure they will be back stronger and achieve their mission successfully next time. Everyone in the country is standing behind the ISRO community.

The scientist could not control his tears just because he loves India more than you and me. It was an emotional, sentimental moment for the ISRO. They have put their hearts souls into the moon mission.

The scientists at the country's prestigious space agency ISRO has no reason to feel dejected. Absolutely. ISRO is one of India's finest crown jewels.

We as Indians are proud of your record-breaking achievement. If such attempts were so easy to achieve, all the countries in the world would be doing the same.

But it is a matter of pride that ISRO could achieve what any other nation in the world could not.

ISRO community doesn't need to be upset. That failure is ladder to success. We appreciate your perseverance and effort. Love you ISRO.
