State govts insensitive to plight of migrant labourers

During the lockdown period, the migrant workers struggled for shelter, food and wanted to go home. They had to struggle again to reach home as there was no transport available.

On the way to their native villages, some of them died due to fatigue and some of them died due to horrible accidents. Everyone felt bad to see how they had struggled.

Now States like UP (through an ordinance) and MP declare that employers need not follow the labour laws. These laws were made to safeguard the working class.

Now, it is a big blow to the working class. I fail to understand why the governments are insensitive to the working class. I wish UP High Court to stay such ordinance, jeopardizing the interests of the working class.

Travails of moving migrants shocking

Migrants are taking road and rail routes carrying loads of essential goods on foot without even wearing footwear and having proper food, unmindful of the threat to their lives in their risky journey.

Good Samaritans are providing eatables and water on the way. The most pathetic scene is that a pregnant woman walked more than thousand kilometres and delivered a child on the roadside and in an hour of rest she walked another 153 km to reach her destination.

Trekking Mount Everest is no more a great feat than this poor lady's adventurous and perseverance aim to arrive at her home.

AP doctor's act reprehensible

What Dr Sudhakar, a government doctor did on May 16 in Visakhapatnam in broad daylight was shameful. He used the worst possible filthy language against the Chief Minister, the highest seat of power in any State in a democracy.

He addressed the policemen on duty in a most derogatory way. Yet, the police and the locals acted with great restraint and concern. The worst part of the whole episode was he tried to malign two religions for no reason.

The full-length video of what happened on Saturday is a clear testimony for Dr Sudhakar's most reprehensible actions. Dr Sudhakar is more of a TDP activist than he is a doctor by profession in the government sector.

He has been a political instrument used by leaders like Ayyanna Pathrudu of Telugu Desam Party. He, at the behest of his masters stationed in the neighbouring State, Dr Sudhakar tried to defame the Vizag administration fighting deadly Covid-19 in the name of PPEs, which he is not in, anyway, connected to.

Yet, he was let of magnanimously by the government of AP. Time has come that the AP government must act tough. If Dr Sudhakar did everything what he did so far in a state of psychological instability, he must be forced to retire.

If his actions were driven by ulterior moves, he, along with his shadows spreading falsehood and disharmony, must be prosecuted.
