Schooling of reverse migrant children must be ensured
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has announced yesterday to re-open all Schools from August 3. Before reopening the schools for children, the Education Department must ensure that the school premises and the surroundings are thoroughly sanitised daily and social distance is well observed.
Moreover, there is a considerable influx and steep raise in reverse migration of construction workers, daily-wage workers from neighbouring states to Andhra Pradesh. The children of these reverse migrant populations must be considered for new admission into the Government schools and provided with books, school uniforms, shoes.
These reverse migrant children and their families need to be supported with the Ammavadi scheme and the Vidya Kanuka scheme like the rest, on humanitarian grounds. Hope the Government of Andhra Pradesh considers this positively benefitting thousands of reverse migrant children and their families.
