Swamy's comment unfortunate

Subramanian Swamy's arrogant proclamation that he cannot be a Chowkidar because he's a Brahmin, reeks of the old zamindari mindset which had scant respect for the labour class.

It may be observed that a 'Brahmin' according to ancient texts is one who is master in a particular field, as in a preacher or guide.

This must have set them apart as a superior race. Since we have no caste distinctions now, he is as good as any chowkidar in the country.
