Taking advantage of Cyclone Fani

Update: 2019-04-29 22:22 IST

Cyclone Fani, currently over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm.

It is indeed a mystery that a low pressure is formed in the Bay of Bengal when the whole of India is reeling under scorching heat.

Temperature hovering around 46 C or even more is sure to sear people while death toll is going up due to severe heat.

Still worse is the case of drought with no a single drop of water in wells or ponds that dot the village.

So, it is expected that the cyclonic storm formed over the Bay of Bengal will bring abundant rain water to the mainland putting an end to water paucity.

Hence, it is wise to collect and retain maximum fresh water in the natural storehouses like ponds, wells, lakes, artificial tanks erected to collect water, etc.

Precautionary measures must also be taken by the authorities concerned that nothing untoward should happen due to lack of preparedness on the part of authorities.

Evacuation of people from dilapidated buildings, leaning buildings or trees that are likely to fall must be removed to minimise casualties during the landfall of the cyclone.

A stitch in time saves nine.
