We need stricter laws to end assault on women

Update: 2019-12-05 00:48 IST

Indians have witnessed brutality and barbarity at its worse in the recent days. The blood- curdling incident that took place in Hyderabad has left the nation in trauma. It is shameful to know that in a country where women are considered divine and holy, they are undergoing such lethal sexual assaults.

It was presumed that after 'Nirbhaya' incident in 2012, such cases would not be tolerated and the whole nation stood united. Even a separate 'Nirbhaya Fund ' was created in many States. But most of the States haven't spent a penny in this regard. We must demand stricter laws and rules against this heinous act of crime and draw government's attention over this issue, else it would remain a political hullabaloo.

Most of the countries have provisions of death penalty against rapists, even in Pakistan. Hence, the government should come up with stricter laws to ensure safety of women.
