Chalgeri railway station on swr upgraded

New Delhi: Phase-1 of Chalgeri yard as Part of 10 km of doubling between Harihar and Chalgeri Section on South Western Railway (SWR) has been commissioned on January, 27, 2020.

Doubling between Harihar and Chalgeri is part of the 31Km section between Harihar Devargudda that is targeted to be commissioned by this financial Year. This double line is part of 190 Km section between Hubballi and Chikjajur that was sanctioned in 2015 at an overall cost of Rs.1141 Cr.

Earlier in Nov 2019, 13 kms of doubling between Harihar and Davangere was commissioned. Doubling is a priority item on SWR and all out efforts are being taken by Construction organization of SWR to complete the projects in a time bound schedule.48 kms of doubling between Chikjajur to Harihar (except 10 kms between Tholahunse Davangere) has now been completed in the section between Hubballi to Chickjajur.

Chief Administrative Officer, ConstructionK C Swami, Chief Engineer/NorthT P Narayan Rao,Dy.Chief Engineer/North Devandra Gupta have been instrumental in getting this station ready for operations.Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer/ConstructionShanthi Ram,Dy Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer/Construction, Hubballi, Ashish Pandey, and team has ensured that all signaling and telecommunication gears are reconnected and ready for train operations.

To facilitate early completion at this station, MP Davangere, G M Siddeswara, have supported Railway during execution of this work.Chalgeri station which was having three running lines has now been provided with additional lines making total of four lines.

Along with doubling, three High level platforms will be operational. As part of this doubling, on new island Plat Form No. 2/3 has been provided.Existing platform has been extended and foot over bridge connecting PF 1 with PF 2/3 is planned. New station building of 280 Sqm has been constructed at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs. In addition circulating area of 600 Sqm and approach road with 200m length and 6.5m width have also been developed at Chalgeri Station.
