New Rail Heritage Museum coming up at Hubballi

New Delhi: To showcase the rich legacy of Indian Railways to posterity and to wish everyone a happy and pleasant rail journey, a Rail Heritage Museum is being set up at the second entry of Hubballi Railway Station and opposite to Central Railway Hospital.

For bringing glory to the proposed Rail Museum, narrow-gauge Railway Rolling Stocks, from different Railways are being displayed and work is moving at a rapid pace. It is proposed to collect photographs of Rail network going back to the 19th and early 20th century so that all old memories of Rail Journey can be part of the photo gallery in the proposed Rail Heritage Museum. Traveling public are requested to contribute from their treasure trove, old photographs covering rail monuments, Railway station facade, letter acknowledgment with Railways, old Railway tickets, Railway Money Receipts, old newspaper advertisements and tender notifications issued by Railways.

In the same way, retired Railway Staff/ Officers, are also requested to contribute their old privilege pass, duty pass, service certificate, appreciation letters issued by Railway administration, if any available with them. In addition to these, any item related to Railway of antique nature available may please be contributed for use as exhibits in the Heritage Railway Museum.

Speaking to the media, Prakash Kumar, Secretary, Public Grievance, Headquarters said, "Your immense contribution in strengthening the Rail Heritage Museum will have a long-lasting value in patronizing the preservation of invaluable Heritage. Your contribution to heritage items will be acknowledged and appreciated by Railways. We request you to help us in recreating the magic of nostalgia in setting up the first Heritage Railway Museum of its kind in Karnataka.
