3,000 MDMA pills seized from Nigerian nationals

Bengaluru: The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested two Nigerian nationals, including a woman, in Bengaluru on charges of drug peddling. The duo along with two of their compatriots were involved in procuring 3,000 ecstasy pills and cocaine, from the Netherlands and Ethiopia through a postal parcel service.

According to the NCB sources, acting on a tip-off, they seized 3,000 plus yellow and grey MDMA pills (610 gms) from a parcel at Foreign Post Office, Bengaluru. "The consignment was concealed in layers of table cloth. The preliminary investigation revealed that MDMA was sourced from the Netherlands and destined to Bengaluru for further distribution," NCB said in a statement.

On 18 December, the two Nigerian nationals, who arrived to collect the parcel, were detained by the central narcotic agency. On the basis of the information provided made by the two during interrogation, NCB arrested their partners on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the accused identified as Ramla Shedafa Nancy and Emmanuel Michael, were arrested when they arrived to collect the parcels at the Foreign Post Office on December 18. Fake foreign passports were recovered from them.

"Further acting on information obtained from the interrogation of apprehended persons, the NCB team further traced and recovered another consisting of 235 grams of cocaine, concealed in the inner walls of a corrugated box. The cocaine was sourced from Ethiopia," NCB added in the statement.
