DCM D.K. Shivakumar hints at reverting Ramanagara to Bengaluru district

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, made a significant announcement regarding the status of Ramanagara district on Monday by declaring the district would cease to exist and that everyone residing there would be considered part of Bengaluru district.

Addressing the gathering, at the Veerabhadraswamy temple event in Sivanahalli village, Kanakapura taluk, he noted that Ramanagara district had been created in the past for personal and political gain by someone. DCM criticised former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, indirectly by emphasizing his intention to rename it as Bengaluru district.

Shivakumar further urged farmers not to sell their land, highlighting that land values were on the rise, especially in areas that would soon be integrated into the Bengaluru district. He stressed the importance of not selling land at lower prices, which might lead to future regrets and financial losses.

He encouraged the residents of Kanakapura taluk not to part with their land, emphasizing that these villages would eventually become part of Bangalore, where land prices are calculated per square foot. He expressed his commitment to the development of the region and discouraged discussions about making Kanakapura a district headquarters. Instead, he urged people to invest in their properties, educate their children and grandchildren, and capitalize on the potential for property value appreciation.

Shivakumar highlighted that more than 300 temples in Kanakapura taluk had already been renovated and refurbished. He emphasized the importance of community contributions and suggested that each family should financially support the Veerabhadra temple to continue its restoration and upkeep. The Deputy Chief Minister's announcement has sparked discussions about the future of Ramanagara district and the potential implications of its reintegration into Bengaluru district, fostering economic development and opportunities for the region's residents.
