126th birth anniversary of first Mayor celebrated
Golnaka: Telangana Mudhiraj welfare association organised the 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Krishnaswamy Mudhiraj, Hyderabad's first mayor, at SK Function Hall here on Sunday. Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh and former MLA and BC leader R Krishnaiah attended the programme as chief guests. As part of the celebrations, they garlanded the portrait of Krishnaswamy and paid rich tributes.
Speaking on the occasion, R Krishaiah said that Krishnaswamy was a social reformer who strove for the welfare of downtrodden sections throughout his political career. He described Mudhiraj community as politically active and urged them to play a key role in empowering BCs.
He opined that the comprehensive development of BCs would be possible only when BCs assumed political power. He called upon BCs, irrespective of their political affiliations, to fight for 50 per cent political reservations to BCs, based on their population.
Kaleru Venkatesh said that TRS government always gave priority to BC welfare and would continue to strive for their development. Later, the chief guests unveiled a book on biography of Krishnaswamy. This was followed by felicitation of senior journalists Satish Mudhiraj and Praveen Mudhiraj.
Prizes were distributed to meritorious students pursuing engineering and other degree courses.BC welfare association state vice president Gujja Krishna, Mudhiraj association state president Putti Yadagiri Mudhiraj, A Shankar, TRS leader Babu, C Narsinga Rao, Madhusudhan, Malamahanadu leaders Deepak Kumar, Srinivas Mudhiraj, Praveen Mudhiraj, Balaraju, Lakshmaiah, Ananthaiah, Kittu, and others participated in the celebrations.
