2 lakh saplings target set for each ward

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore has ordered to plant two lakh saplings in every municipal ward in Greater limits as part of Haritha Haram programme.

A review meeting was held at Salarjung Museum Conference Hall on Wednesday with Charminar, LB Nagar zone deputy commissioners, urban biodiversity wing officials, medical officers and voluntary organizations on 'Saaf Hyderabad-Shandaar Hyderabad.' Additional Commissioners Amarapali, Shruthi Ojha also attended the meeting.

Commissioner Dana Kishore said the empty places, government, private offices, schools, colleges and other institutions should be identified within the limits of each ward and officials have to take all steps to plant the saplings in those empty places.

Commissioner suggested that in every ward at least two lakhs of saplings should be plant as part of Harithaharam. He said to distribute the saplings to 24 lakh dwellings in the city of Hyderabad. The commissioner said that regular checks of nurseries should be conducted and checked for plant breeding in accordance with the prescribed target.

Air pollution prevention programme on June 5 The Commissioner said that on June 5 the World Environment Day various issues related to air pollution prevention would be held. The authorities have been ordered to ban garbage burning on roads, use fuel efficiently and large-scale planting of saplings. He said in the event that the World Environment Day celebrates, corporators and representatives of the public are required to make partners.
