3-day meet on climate change begins in hyderabad city
Begumpet: The tenth biennial three-day conference of the Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) began here at Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The theme of the conference is 'Climate Change and Disasters: Challenges, Opportunities and Responses' which is of great concern to India, other developing countries and the world.
The conference is being co organised by CESS, Hyderabad, in partnership with Deutsche Gessellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammernarbeit (GIZ), Germany, National Institute for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad, TATA Trust and other agencies.
About 200 participants from different parts of India including a few from abroad are attending the conference. The inaugural session was chaired by Prof CH Hanumantha Rao, former member of Planning Commission and former Chairman of CESS, Hyderabad. "We are working with Panchayats and they will play major role in taking the ideas into people.
While solving one problem, we are creating more problems due to lack of adequate data. The present available data is not perfect data," said Dr Rajeev Ahal, Director for Natural Resource Management, GIZ, India.
