3 injured, 2 seriously, in major fire mishap
Pashamailaram: Three workers were injured, two of them seriously, in a major fire accident in Nirmal Enterprises here on Saturday at around 5 am. Half of the adjacent unit was damaged in the blaze. There was heavy loss of property in the fire which was controlled by seven fire fighters.
The mishap was caused by chemicals. The burning leaked chemicals spread through drainage nalas to the adjacent unit Safe Papers and another. As the blaze could not be controlled initially fire fighters were summoned from ODS, BDL, Sangareddy, KPHB, Sadashivpet and other areas. They took over four hours to control the blaze.
The seriously injured workers are identified as Achulal (46) from Bihar and Anjayya(50), a local resident. Achulal suffered 80 per cent burns and Anjayya 60 per cent. Another worker, Kishnayya, sustained minor injuries. Local residents were scared of seeing the injured workers running out of the industry on to the road. They put out the fire on their bodies and rushed them to the hospital in an auto. No management representative was present.
The residents while blaming the management for the mishap told The Hans India that storing of solvents and chemicals on a large-scale had led to the accident. Sangareddy District Fire Officers Srinivas and Janya Naik concluded that chemicals stored in solvent caught fire and spread fast. The residents demanded strong action against the management representatives for their negligence. Patancheru DSP Rajeswara Rao visited the spot and reviewed the situation.
