A great art investment opportunity

State Gallery of Art presents an art exhibition, 'Art as Investment' with 55 professional artists, curated by Fawad Tamkanat. 'Art as Investment' is a unique thought for selling artists paintings and part of sale proceeds will be donated to the wives of soldiers who recently sacrificed their lives in Pulwama terror attack in Jammu &Kashmir. Around 80 paintings are on display.

Fawad Tamkanat says, "The idea behind this is to promote young talent. I have selected works of 55 artists from all over India. These artists are the most promising and emerging artists of India." He adds, "Nowadays art galleries are not giving opportunities to young talent. So, I decided to promote them with the help of State Art Gallery."

It was not an easy work to bring all the works together, "It was challenging for me because I selected good works from different regions. And to talk individually, make a list of artists whose work has great potential and find the ones good for investment and which will attract new art collectors of our town - all these things were kept in mind while selecting artist and their works. I am promoting mostly contemporary artists and new good sculptors."

There are quite a few works from Hyderabad as well. "I feel Hyderabadi young talent has great scope, and I want to create awareness to art lovers, about these promising artists. I am helping many young new collectors to acquire good art work. I feel collectors should invest on the works as all the 80 paintings are at reasonable price starting from Rs 20,000 to 6 lakhs."

Fawad's works too is on display at the exhibition. Artist Sweta Pavan whose work finds a place in the gallery says, " I worked with the co-existence as a series where I try to project what we want to see in life in the form of nature, which are birds and flowers. I want to show nature as supreme, so I showed small miniature building behind the nature blown up. I title it as celebrating co-existence."

Another artist Afza about shares, "My work is my strength. It is the medium through which I express myself. In a world full of uncontrollable and erratic events, my art forms a powerful weapon to showcase my myriad emotions. It is an inherent, irrepressible and inseparable part of me — it defines who I am.

It is difficult to contemplate how I developed this medium of expression and as I reflect back to search for the answer, it becomes clear to me that my work did not spring from external forces — it was always an innate part of me. Even as I wielded a brush for the first time, I discovered the joy of expressing my thoughts and watching them emerge before me in physical form. This euphoria remains unchanged even today and formed the basis of my journey into the world of art."

Artist Mousumi Mandal says, "My painting depicts a space where people gather for refreshment throughout the day. I captured the time by using different shadows in one frame or in one painting. I love to draw human figures with their various expression.Few people I personally know, and few are unknown, but I met them on a regular basis at the same place but at different times."
