A harrowing time as garbage piles up

Nallagutta: Indiscriminate garbage dumping on the road beside the Government High School, Nallagutta in Secunderabad, is giving motorists a harrowing time for the locals. The residents complain that garbage piles have not been removed for several weeks now.

Many alleged that the road has become a dumping ground here during night time, making it difficult for the commuters to pass thorough this area. Despite several appeals made to the civic body, no action has been initiated so far to check the menace, the residents say. Also, indiscriminate dumping of food wastes by commercial establishments has been on the rise over a period of time in the locality.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, one of the local residents said, "The pile of garbage on the road stretch has become a breeding ground for rodents, mosquitoes, and stray dogs. Making matters worse, auto-rickshaw drivers and passersby urinate on the stretch. The wall adjoins a government school and the foul smell that is being emitted can cause health problems for students and teachers of the school."

He appealed to the civic body to address the issues at the earliest. "We have lodged complaints in this regard to the officials concerned several times, but unfortunately, no action was taken till now," he lamented.
