Academicians condole death of Hasanuddin
Nampally: Academicians and scholars from across the State attended the condolence meeting of Dr Hasanuddin Ahmed, IAS (Retd), organised at Madina Education Centre at Nampally on Sunday.
Capt. L Pandu Ranga Reddy presided over the meeting while K M Arifuddin was the convener of the meeting. Ziauddin Nayyar, Ghulam Yazdani, senior advocate, Syed Aziz Pasha, Ex MP, Syed Hamid Hussaini, Dr Fakhruddin Mohammed, secretary, MESCO, Justice E Ismail, Aneesuddin, Dr Amir Ullah Khan IAS, Majeed Bedar, poet and writer, Justice Vaman Rao, Prof M Anwar, M A Siddiqui (Manager SBI) addressed the gathering.
Hasanuddin was the author of 25 books and translated Bhagwat Gita into Urdu during the reign of Nizam of Hyderabad. To commemorate the life and works of his grandfather, Aziz Jung Vila, he founded Vila Academy. In 2003, he was awarded prestigious Makhdoom Award by AP Urdu Academy. He also served as the chairman of AP Minorities Commission.
Speakers recalled that Dr Hasanuddin Ahmed was a man of great values, a visionary, secular, highly intellectual and a noted writer. They also recalled his services to the society at large which was acknowledged by many countries where he represented India as an official. His family members, including youngest son Zaheer Ahmed, daughters-in-law Razia and Farzana were present at the condolence meeting.
Speakers unanimously decided to conduct annual memorial lecture in his name and requested family members and supporters to come forward to form a Trust under his name and to republish all his works in different languages to pass on his visionary ideas to the younger generations. The meeting concluded with prayers and a two-minute silence in memory of a great man who closely witnessed the political transformation of the nation for close to a century.
