Acting with alacrity in times of emergencies
Hyderabad: Hyderabad city is facing incessant rainfall with heavy winds in the recent times. This led to the fall of trees, water stagnation, traffic jams and fall of electric poles all over the city. GHMC Enforcement, Vigilance, Disaster Management (EVDM) department is playing a vital role in clearing the issues.
It became an inspiration for the remaining municipal corporations in the country. Until now, only Mumbai Municipal Corporation has separate department for disaster management. GHMC EVDM department is prepared with well-equipped technology, more vehicles and dedicated staff. Nearly 13 teams with 220-member staff are roaming around the city for 24 hours in 3 shifts.
After recent gales of 70 km per hour in the city, many colonies were drowned and many accidents took place. DRF teams responded very quickly and cleared the problems within no time. The teams are appreciated at the time of removal of felled trees. They are finishing the works and making way for the traffic.
Speaking about the team, EVDM Director Viswajit Kampati said, "We trained 220 members and made them perfect to clear any disaster occurred in the city. We also gathered high-end machinery and tools to clear any sort of problem raised."
Kampati added, "DRF teams are always ready to face any problem across the city. Recently, we have introduced motor bikes also to the teams to reach the location in time. Political leaders, people representatives and public are appreciating the works of DRF teams on the social media platforms.
