Update: 2019-05-03 03:09 IST

Nampally: CPI(M) city secretary Srinivas has submitted a representation to Prem Kumar, Deputy Director, Health Services, demanding a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged collection of user charges by MNJ Cancer Hospital from poor patients who are covered by the Arogyasri scheme.

The representation alleged that user charges ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,200 besides Rs 2,500 for MRI and CT scan were being collected from the patients. Srinivas informed Prem Kumar that poor from across Telangana were coming to the hospital with difficulty. He pleaded for scrapping of user charges and provision of proper health facilities in the hospital.

The CPI (M) leader alleged that the collected charges were being misused, as there was no account for them by the hospital staff. Hence, there was a need for an inquiry. He demanded action against those resorting to such irregularities.
