Hyderabad: In an attempt to increase love for the subject among the students, TMREIS (Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society) has introduced 'Activity Based Learning', a redesigned curriculum and better teaching method that would encourage children to explore concepts with the help of teaching aids.

According to B Shafiullah, secretary TMREIS, the Activity Based Learning – with a principle of 'learning through doing' develops a love for reading and understanding the subject among students. It provides an optimum learning environment where the learning becomes joyful and long lasting. TMREIS lesson plan divides the structure of the lesson and allows the teacher to evaluate the student's understanding at each level of teaching process.

"It is thoroughly followed in all the TMR schools. The activity based learning comes in a wide range of subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, art & craft, science, geography, electronics, robotics etc," he explained.

He further elaborated that the TMREIS has developed 'Experiential Programmes', where children can actually perform activities in the form of science experiments and robotics workshops which the students enjoy to the core. "Our aim is to focus on learning, and not on finishing the curriculum or just conducting examinations.

The exposure to technology, the usage of various tools of the trade and scientific applications are all part of this learning experience. The students are provided with quality learning materials and workbooks to ensure creative and engaging practice opportunities for each student and reduce learning gap," he added.
