AIC-CCMB embarks on innovation yatra

Hyderabad: The startup incubator, Atal Incubation Centre, at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) flagged off a State-wide 'innovation yatra' on Tuesday.

The yatra, named AIC-CCMB- Gran Tourismo (Grand Tour), is aimed at catalysing student innovations to drive India's bio-economy, especially among students studying biotechnology, pharmacy and biology in smaller towns and cities of the State.

Officials will be visiting various colleges, in Warangal and Siddipet districts from January 4 to 6, including S R Engineering University and National Institute of Technology, Warangal; Surabhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Siddipet; B V Raju Institute of Technology, Narsapur and M L R Institute of Technology, Dundigal. AIC-CCMB CEO Dr Madhusudana Rao said, "We believe that innovation should not be confined by geography or through the lack of resources," and added that through this innovation yatra, they intend to offer students a chance for pre-incubation incentives, expert guidance and even funding for their start-ups. "In the long run, we hope to strengthen the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in every corner of Telangana," he said.

CCMB Acting director Dr Manjula Reddy said that this programme is an excellent initiative to instill entrepreneurship in young research scholars across the State and added, "We hope that they will also be successful in making future innovators from this part of the country".
