AITUC accuses govts of stifling workers rights

Himayatnagar: State AITUC secretary M Narsimha on Wednesday accused the governments of depriving the rights secured by the working class after many struggles and failing to implement laws for their benefit.

Addressing the May Day celebrations organised by Boinpally Market Hamali Union and Secunderabad Cantonment Board Contract Workers' Union, he alleged that the governments also failed to introduce new legislations to benefit the working class.

Narsimha unfurled the May Day flags in Mahatma Gandhi Community Hall, Boinpally Market Yard and Boinpally circle offices and flagged a workers' rally from Cantonment mini-park to JBS.

The AITUC leader alleged that the cantonment board officials were neglecting the law to make 600 contract workers permanent, after they worked 244 days continuously and failing to pay them salaries in violation of the Supreme Court order. He threatened to launch agitations to secure the demands.

Among those present were union leaders A Rajayya, N Yellaiah, D Buchayya, K Komaraiah, V Ramulu, A Gattayya, Raju and Cantonment Board Contract Workers' Union leaders Sagarika, B Venkatswamy, Razia, Balakrishna, Renuka, Narsing.
