Hyderabad: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday demanded the government to expand IT companies in southern part of Hyderabad, including Maheshwaram, Rajendranagar, Malakpet.

He was speaking during a discussion on the growth of IT and industries in Telangana in the Assembly. Starting his speech with a condolence message for deaths during the second wave of Covid, Owaisi said that Telangana has turned out to be a success story, making rapid strides in development. He said that while his party welcomed development, the government should take up works in the Old City.

He asked why no one was interested in coming to the southern part of the city like Maheshwaram, Rajendranagar, Bandlaguda, Malakpet, Nampally. He also questioned why the government was not publicising the work it had done in the State. Appreciating the government for the dalit entrepreneurship scheme, the MIM leader said that similar mechanism should be evolved for the minorities.

He wanted the government to strengthen the National Academy of Construction (NAC) with one per cent contributory funds by developers. Stating that Muslims were most affected because of land acquisitions, Owaisi said lakhs of acres belonging to Muslims under different acts like Jagir Abolition Act, Inam Abolition Act, Urban Land Ceiling Act, Waqf properties were taken over.

He said lands belonging to Muslims were taken away, but the community was not given anything. "The companies like Wipro, Microsoft are on Waqf lands, land at International Airport at Shamshabad belongs to Pahadi Sharfuddin Baba, lands in Balapur are on verge of encroachment," said Owaisi. He wanted the Health universities to have courses like lab technicians, which would help youth in getting employment.

He said the small and medium entrepreneurs were worst sufferers of pandemic. "The government needs to support them. Big and influential persons run away with hundreds of crores and are let scot free, but small and medium entrepreneurs are penalised for small loans."
