Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad lends support to TSRTC workers stir

Hyderabad: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday extended support to the ongoing indefinite strike by RTC workers. ABVP state secretary Ambala Kiran said they would have extended full support if the agitators had chosen some other time other than festival period.

They said even if RTC isn't merged with the government, the workers should get all the benefits that were being given to government employees. They demanded that the government pay errands to RTC. "Trade unions should oppose increasing of bus fares by 50 per cent during festivals.

Incentives should be provided to bus drivers running Palle Velugu busses in certain routes. Temporary drivers appointed by government to run busses during strike took lives of 10 persons. It's high time for government to consider RTC workers' demands and take a favourable decision," Kiran added.
