All eyes on Malkajgiri after triangular fight
Malkajgiri: Malkajgiri Lok Sabha election triggered discussion in political sides just after the polling was completed. Following announcement of Revanth Reddy as a contestant from Congress from the constituency, everyone is eagerly waiting to know the outcome.
It is one of the constituencies where Congress Party gave tough fight in the elections. As an opponent for Revanth Reddy, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy contested from TRS party. Both Congress Party and TRS party is expressing their confidence regarding the victory of their candidates.
Labour Employment, Women and Child Development Minister Mallareddy's son-in-law Marri Rajasekahar Reddy, Revanth Reddy and BJP MLC N Rama Chandra Rao locked horns, making it a keenly fought triangular battle.
Voters in Malkajgiri constituency give interest verdict. They never made a party win consecutively two times in a row. As the first elections in this constituency were conducted in 2009, Congress party won in it, whereas in 2014 TDP candidate Mallareddy grabbed it, but he later joined the TRS party.
TRS started their campaigning in this constituency from first day onwards. As MLAs, MLCs and corporators in the area belong to TRS party and lack of leaders for Congress party in some polling stations on the Election Day may show their impact on the result. Congress party is confident of their victory as people would give importance to experience, it hopes. Even BJP candidate N Rama Chandra Rao is also confident of his win.
Decrease in voting
Having the highest number of voters, decrease in voting percentage has caused concern among the the contestants. Out of 31,49,710 voters in the constituency, 49.4% of voters cast their vote, which is 1.65% less than previous polling percentage. Yet, all the parties fervently hope it would adversely impact the their rivals only.
After securing six Assembly constituencies and with LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy backing the TRS, the party believed their victory was a bed of roses in this constituency until Congress party declared Revanth Reddy as its contestant.
