Alleged efforts to dub Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika students Maoists decried

Musheerabad: Several representatives of people's organisations held demonstrations on Sunday at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram against the efforts to dub people who take up the cases of harassment against students as Maoists.

They cited the cases against the Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) students who are demanding the removal of lecturer at Satavahana University Penchala Srinivas and the false propaganda against Prof Surepalli Sujata.

Among the participants were Vimalakka of Arunodaya, Sandhya of Progressive Organisation of Women (POW), Telangana Sahithi's Bhupati Venkateswarlu and Prof Padmaja Shaw.

Addressing the participants, they decried the attempts being made to brand people who are seeking the safety for girl students on university campuses as Maoists. They asked whether demanding safety and rights in Telangana would amount to being Maoists.
