Ambedkarism being subverted: Srisailam
Basheerbagh: President of SC Reservation Parirakshna Samithi, Srisailam, has expressed serious concerns over misuse of reservations and Ambedkarism in Telugu states. He was speaking on the foundation day of the Samithi here on Sunday.
Srisailam said that the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar secured reservation rights to the downtrodden sections of the society to provide them with equal opportunities but some people who converted to other religions were utilising reservations illegally. He condemned attempts by foreign missionaries and Communist parties to create disharmony among people, and thus misusing Ambedkarism.
Some people who are in prominent positions such as MLAs, IAS and IPS officials and MPs were availing of reservation facilities even though they had converted to Christianity, he said. He alleged that leaders like Harsha Kumar, Manda Krishna Madiga, RS Praveen Kumar, Thatikonda Rajaiah, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Bodiga Shobha and Babu Mohan had been using reservations despite being Christians.
He urged intellectuals, students and youth to fight against the misuse of reservations and preserve the constitutional rights given to downtrodden sections. Among those who participated in the protest include Paladugu Anil Kumar, Thati Kumar Raju, Devendrappa, Sridevi, Mohan and others.
