Anomalies alleged in IAS, IPS postings
Musheerabad: National president of BC Welfare Association R Krishnaiah has alleged that the state government and state chief secretary have shown prejudice against IAS officers belonging to BC, SC and ST in their postings. He was speaking to media here on Tuesday.
Krishnaiah said that while there are several senior BC, SC and ST officers, the state government is giving them insignificant posts. He said that he brought it to the notice of the Chief Secretary, but no action was taken on it. He cited several instances where the officers belonging to BC, SC and ST were relegated to insignificant posts.
Director of Education Department Kishan, who worked earlier as collector and BC commissioner, was transferred to an insignificant post, he said. Similarly, B Venkateshwar Rao, who worked as GAD secretary and collector, was transferred to an insignificant post, he alleged. Another officer Burra Venkatesham, who was known for his dedication, was also given insignificant post.
Krishnaiah accused the state government of giving priority to the officers from North India, while giving insignificant posts to officers from Telangana, especially BC officers. He alleged same prejudice in the case of collector appointments. While there are 16 eligible IAS officers available, non-IAS officers were appointed as collector, he added. Non-IAS officers were appointed as collectors to Narayanpet, Mulugu and Vikarabad districts, he said.
Only a few BC officers have been appointed for higher positions, such as principal secretary, directors and commissioners, he alleged. Krishnaiah said that the CM Office does not have a single BC officer. Krishnaiah demanded the government to appoint BC officers in important posts in the upcoming reshuffle of officers. He warned of an intense agitation if the Chief Secretary does not change his prejudice.
