Area hospital doctors protest over attacks
Patancheru: Doctors and staff of the area hospital here on Monday staged protests in response to the call of the Indian Medical Association to protest attacks on medicos. Sporting black badges and raising slogans, they stopped services for half hour from 10 am.
Addressing the protesters, the superintendent of the hospital, Vasundhara Devi, stated that the staff were deeply moved by the attacks on doctors in Kolkata, resulting in one death. She said medicos in Patancheru and BHEL had also held demonstrations during the day.
The agitating doctors said they wanted criminal cases to be registered if the staff of government hospitals were attacked. They said police outposts should be set up at all government hospitals to prevent attacks on the staff.
