Auto driver returns jewellery bag, feted

Afzalgunj: An auto driver was felicitated by the Afzalgunj police for returning the belongings of a passenger who forgot a bag containing gold jewellery in the auto.  

According to police, on Saturday evening, Md Ibrahim, a resident of Chandrayangutta got on the auto being driven by Merugu Ganesh at Putlibowli X Roads, and on completion of his shopping he got down at the same spot after some time. "Due to rain, in a hurry, he forgot the polythene cover consisting of 15 to 16 tolas of gold ornaments, which he had kept in the back seat. Later in the night he reported the matter to police.

On preliminary enquiry, Afzalgunj police visited the spot and with the help of CCTV footages traced the auto number and came to know that the auto belonged to a resident of Old Malakpet. With the help of a citizen, Md Ismail, police moved to the address. In the meantime, the auto driver himself visited the police station to return the cover containing gold," informed the police.

ACP Sultan Bazar and Inspector Afzalgunj appreciated and rewarded the auto driver Merugu Ganesh and Md Ismail who helped police in tracing out the address of the auto.
