Awareness drive held on head & neck cancer
Koti: ENT experts on Sunday conducted an awareness programme on head and neck cancer at ENT Hospital here. Medical students and patients attended the event. The organisers explained how the disease spreads, preventive measures to be taken up and whom to consult. Tests for about 500 persons were conducted during the programme.
A representative of ENT Experts' Association, Dr L Sudarshan Reddy said cancer could be treated if detected at an early stage. He stated that the programme was being organised as there was no adequate public awareness on cancer ailments. He said head and neck cancer is caused by pollution, consumption of tobacco, gutka and liquor. Dr Reddy said free radio/chemo therapies and treatment would be provided to cancer patients.
