Cantonment: Residents of Tirumalgiri are facing severe hardships on account of bad condition of roads, which are full of potholes, allegedly due to official apathy and contractors giving a go-by to quality while road-laying/repair works.

The residents told The Hans India that many roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment area have become unfit for travel during the rainy season. They blame the use of inferior material by the contractors while undertaking road repairs for the worst condition.

According to the residents, the Tirumalgiri-Lal Bazaar and Tirumalgiri-Dairy Farm BT road stretches are full of ditches giving motorists nightmarish drive. The road leading to Dairy Farm is in a bad shape because it has been laid in 2015.

Two-wheeler and autorickshaw riders heading to Suchitra and Old Bowenpally Highway face the threat of accidents unable to spot potholes during night-time. The residents point out that their innumerable representations to MLA G Sayanna and the Cantonment Board officials to repair the road had no effect.

They have appealed to the officials to improve the condition of roads by laying new ones, particularly the one between Tirumalgiri and Chinna Kamala and Pedda Kamala areas. Some residents say that their vehicles were getting damaged because of the poor road conditions.
