Bagh Lingampally: Closure of govt schools an unwise move by KCR
Bagh Lingampally: President of Telangana BC Welfare Association Jajula Srinivas Goud remarked that Telangana CM was struck by privatisation mania in recent days. He was speaking at the executive committee meeting of Telangana BC teachers' association here at Omkar Bhavan on Monday.
Speaking at the meeting, Srinivas Goud termed the decision to close 12,000 government schools on the pretext of lack of students as an unwise decision. "While there are liquor shops for every half kilometer, it is unfortunate that the state does not have government schools for every 1.5 km," he said. He expressed his fears that the decision to close schools would affect the education of downtrodden sections of the population.
"While the neighbouring AP state is planning to bring down the number of liquor shops and increase the number of schools, it is vice versa in Telangana," he said. Increasing the number of schools and introducing English medium from nursery would greatly help in eradicating illiteracy, he opined. He suggested that the government give priority to establishing new government schools rather than spending huge amounts for new Secretariat and Assembly buildings.
Condemning the issue of GO 26 which allows private universities in the state, he alleged that that the state government had been harming state universities by not giving them enough funds.
BC Teachers Association president Sunkari Srinivas Rao, Rapolu Parameshwar, general secretary Konni Shankar Goud, Mahbubabad district president Ramesh, BC Youth Association president Kanakala Shyam, Rangareddy district president Gopalakrishna, youth leaders Ediga Srinivas Goud, Bathini Raju and others attended the meeting.
