Ban on road-cutting in city from May 31

Hyderabad: Road restoration works should be taken up and completed on a war-footing and the GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore had issued a circular to the Engineering department of GHMC in this regard on Monday. In view of the ensuing monsoon season, Dana Kishore has instructed to the engineering department that the road cutting works should be stopped with effect on May 31.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, GHMC Chief Engineer for Maintenance, Ziauddin Mohammed said in the wake of the rainy season, GHMC has decided to impose a ban on the entire road cutting works within the GHMC limits from May 31 and also to complete all the pending road works before May 31.

"Trench filling and temporary restoration shall be done by the road cutting agency and this shall be ensured by the concerned department or organisation", he added.

The Municipal Commissioner has instructed the Engineering department that the roads should be restored for commuting by June 7 and the executive engineers would be taking necessary action in this regard. Any special requirement would be brought to the notice of the Commissioner and specific permission could be obtained and all necessary and extra precautions should be taken by the Engineering Department, the Municipal Commissioner said.

The Commissioner ordered that the ban on road cuttings would be continued till the end of the monsoon which is 31 October and ban will continue unless it was lifted by the specific orders. He also warned that if in case, there was any violation of these instructions, concerned executive engineers would be held responsible.

Ziauddin also said all the superintending engineers and executive engineers were instructed to ensure that all road cutting works that were in progress should be stopped and all the roads were restored to normal for commuting on a top priority keeping in view, the public interest.
