Batukamma saris all set to be distributed

Hyderabad: Ministers of Hyderabad, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, people's representatives and corporators are gearing up to launch the distribution of Bathukamma saris to 11,21,618 women in GHMC division, informed GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh in a press note.

He conducted a video conference with Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to review arrangements for the distribution. On the occasion, he also conducted review of various measures being undertaken to enhance property tax collections, improve sanitation maintenance, and expedite highway repair works. Additional Commissioners, division heads, chief engineers, chief city planners participated in the conference.

The Commissioner said, "Every people's representative should take part in Bathukamma sari distribution by conducting programmes. Every woman with 'Aahara Bhadratha' card is eligible to get a Bathukamma saree." Taking note of measures to address civic issues, he noted: "Due to the heavy rains in the past days, roads and highways are damaged." He suggested that the officials take up repair works of the roads wherever necessary on a priority basis.

"Removal of garbage wastes is most important to get rid of seasonal diseases. Some more vehicles will be added from October for garbage collection," he said, while calling for better sanitation measures. Speaking of property tax collections, he said, "Special action should be taken to collect property tax. Re-assessment should be done for the buildings paying 3 lakh rupees property tax."

He insisted officials to concentrate on trade licences and issue permissions for build construction applications. He ordered to increase fogging and spraying in the city to avoid seasonal diseases. Addl. Commissioners Shruthi Ojha, Siktha Patnaik, Kenadi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vigilence director Viswajit Kampati, Chief engineers Suresh, Jiyauddin, Sridhar, Devendar Reddy, Srinivas Rao and others participated in the programme.
