BC leaders hold talks with welfare minister Koppula Eshwar
Banjara Hills: A team of BC leaders led by R Krishnaiah, the national president of BC Welfare Association, met Telangana Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar on Wednesday and held discussions on various BC issues. BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Venkatesh, Srinivas, G Krishna Yadav, Narsimha Naik and Satish participated in the discussion.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, R Krishnaiah said that they had appealed to the minister to grant fee reimbursement to poor BC students pursuing engineering and other vocational courses and lift the criteria of 10,000 rank to get reimbursement.
A demand was also made to sanction loans to all the BC candidates who had applied for loans from BC corporation, which had been pending for the last two years. He said that they urged the minister to provide coaching for civil service aspirants from BC community at reputed private institutions. BC leaders also demanded hike in the scholarships given to BC, SC and ST college students from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000.
Krishnaiah said that the minister responded positively to their demands and promised to hike scholarship amounts and address other demands. The minister also promised them to speak to the CM regarding the demand for additional sections in BC Gurukul schools.
