Secretariat: Various BC association activists led by R Krishnaiah met Chief Secretary SK Joshi and held discussions with him about the filling up of vacancies in the government.

Speaking to media after meeting with the chief secretary, R Krishnaiah said that they urged the Chief Secretary to fill vacant posts as many employees had retired in the recent past, and the vacant posts had not been filled up by the government for the last six years. In Group-I category alone, there were about 1,200 vacant posts in 18 services, he pointed out.

Vacant Group-I posts include such positions as Deputy Collector, DSP, CTO etc. He claimed that there as many as 8,000 vacant positions in Group II and III categories, who play key role in the implementation of government policies. As such there was an immediate need to take up recruitments on a large scale, the delegation impressed on the Chief Secretary.

Public administration would be weakened if these posts remain unfilled, Krishnaiah said and criticised the state government for extending the services of the retired employees in higher positions such as Joint Collectors and Chief Engineers for more than two years against the norms.

Formation of new districts and revenue mandals only increased the personnel requirements, he said, and appealed for a high-level meeting to assess the situation and issue notification for recruitment of vacant posts in all the four categories of government service. Among those who met the CS were BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Neela Venkatesh, Narsimha Goud and others.
