Hyderabad: The city recorded the season's highest temperature on Monday with heat waves sweeping across the few districts of Telangana and in Hyderabad too. "The city had reached at 41.4 degree Celsius on Monday and 41.4 degree Celsius on Monday," said Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The city witnessed few very light pre-monsoon rains accompanied by gusty winds, resulting a lot of damage to the city about a week ago. Thereafter, rainfall activity took a backseat. As far as temperatures are concerned, they have been settling above the normal levels.

IMD predicted that that temperatures at 42 degree Celsius can continue till first week of the May. It also warned that thunder storm accompanied with gusty winds speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph very likely to occur at isolated Places over Telangana on Tuesday.

IMD has also issued warnings for south Andhra Pradesh of severe cyclonic storm as cyclone Fani, which is inching closer to Tamil and Andhra Pradesh, is expected to strengthen and reach the coast by Tuesday evening.

These increases in maximums can be attributed to the northeast wards wind, which are very warm in nature. The same is the reason behind the prediction of cyclone in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by IMD.
